Cambridge, MA, May 21, 2012--YouthTrade™ today announced all 28 Whole Foods Market® stores in the North Atlantic region will carry a selection of products from nearly 20 young business owners who are certified YouthTrade entrepreneurs. YouthTrade is a project of Youth Entrepreneurship and Sustainability (YES), inspired by the Conscious Capitalism Institute (CCI), and designed to promote entrepreneurship among people under the age of 35 by creating new markets for their products. The entrepreneurs are being honored today at the YouthTrade Launch, held at the Microsoft New England Research and Development Center (NERD).

In March, YouthTrade presented the Whole Foods Market buying team with products from dozens of certified entrepreneurs whose products promote social, economic, and/or environmental sustainability. The products range from chocolate energy bars, tea and beverages, to compostable, sustainable party products and organic soil. YouthTrade founding companies include The Biochar Company, Perfect Fuel Chocolate, Bixby & Co., Biena Foods, Raaka Chocolate, Runa Tea, and Susty Party.

“Whole Foods Market is proud to be the first retailer to carry YouthTrade products. We are committed to supporting small businesses and giving our customers the opportunity to do the same,” said Kimberley Rose, Whole Foods Market North Atlantic regional vice president. “We are so impressed by the talent and vision that these young entrepreneurs have shown and we are excited to offer them the opportunity to bring their products to the marketplace.”

“Whole Foods Market is an innovator, they are the first retailer to offer YouthTrade products,” said YouthTrade and YES founder Poonam Ahluwalia. “Whole Foods Market is well known for its exceptional selection of natural foods and organic products, and YouthTrade is helping to increase the variety of innovative, healthy and sustainable goods on store shelves throughout the North Atlantic region.”

In addition to Ahluwalia and the entrepreneurs, YouthTrade Launch event participants include:
